Public safety and service organizations are challenged to
maintain advanced internal communication capabilities as well as
communication with other potential responding agencies - police,
fire, health, military, utility, etc.
For
many, the coverage, cost and direct intra-agency voice and data
capabilities of Iowa's only state-wide radio network meets that
challenge.
Here's how it works:
Radio Coverage -
You have use of any and all of the nearly
100 towers covering Iowa and much of the surrounding
states.
<See map>
Interoperability -
You're capable of speaking (w/
authorization) directly with any
other user-agency on the network.
These radios are also the only radios
available today that are compatible with the existing
multi-state communication network andP25
networks.
Capabilities -
Group radio calls
One-to-one radio calls
Back-up phone service
Seamless roaming
Radio caller ID
Emergency alert
Off network/direct radio-to-radio
usage
Data option for NCIC/State inquiries,
GPS/AVL, work orders/service tickets, etc.
Project 25
Reduced Costs -
Buying and maintaining towers is not
necessary (but optional for those that want/need to
own their own)
Buying and maintaining switches and
central electronics is not necessary
Available at state contract
pricing for authorized agencies
Shared systems are considered the
optimal level of interoperability by
SAFECOM,
enabling you to invest in RACOM radios and
infrastructure within full compliance of the federal
guidelines.
RACOM Radios operate on a multi-state
"proprietary shared system" and a "standards-based
shared system".
